Situation
A new state of the art Performing Arts Centre at Mount Waverley’s Huntingtower School.
Solution
This project required a highly customised solution to create a complex ceiling incorporating raked, curved and flat dimensions. Atkar consulted closely with the project architects Baldasso Cortese to design this unique solution which favours acoustic refraction over the conventional sound absorption, allowing sound to be directed around the auditorium.
Our Au.diStyle decorative panels were customised and finished in Inluxe Image Tasmanian Oak alongside our Au.diTouch premium fabric wrapped acoustic panels, used to encase the speakers. The fixtures were concealed to create a refined finish.
Given the complex nature of the highly customised deflector curved ceiling panels & steel fixture frame, Atkar constructed 3D drawings and a prototype for the architects to sign off.
During the installation process Atkar were on hand to assist SJ Higgins Group. Many factors had to be considered given the tailor-made solution, including panel weight which was engineered carefully by Atkar Group to ensure a smooth fitting.
VoglFuge was used in the corridors and entry space to create an impressive seamless ceiling.
The end result – a compelling aesthetic & superb acoustic performance.
