What is TPM?

Atkar TPM is more than just products, it’s solutions! At Atkar, TPM represents not just protection products but rather a substantial system of evaluation designed to prevent damage, inconvenience and safety risks in any building site or work environment. We are innovators in the field, and market leaders in TPM supply to the construction industry.

What is TPM?

Temporary Protection Materials: one of the most important elements of the construction process that builders have often never heard of.

Don’t pay to fix damage at the end of a job, be proactive and use TPM to eliminate the risk of damage during the construction process before it happens. Atkar’s vast range of TPM products has solutions to protect your projects at each stage from the ground up.

In simplest terms, TPM is any item created as a Temporary Protection Material; something that can be used for a fixed timeframe to protect a surface, item or area from potential damage. However, finding the most effective solution for protecting today’s surfaces in a cost efficient manner can be far from simple. This can range from basic applications such as protecting freshly laid flooring, recently installed windows and newly installed partitions through to more complex applications using site segregation, dust containment and even engineered solutions.

Why TPM?

In Australia rectification and defect remediation in construction is a significant cost to businesses, in both dollars and time and delays final completion of projects dramatically. Using TPM can prevent this by eliminating the risk from the outset, almost entirely, for damage to occur at all. The cost of rectification will normally far outweigh the cost of preventative protection, not to mention the inconvenience of call-backs and repairs.

Example

A carpet layer comes in and lays fresh carpet, costing $50 per m2, in a new commercial office but there are still other tradesman working on site. The potential risk for damage to the NEW carpet is significant given the foot traffic and products/tooling being brought in by the other trades. A Tradesman then drips a small amount of adhesive/paint/liquid on the new carpet in a 10m2 room.

NO TPM

The small area of carpet is now ruined however the entire 10m2 carpeted area needs to be removed. Cost of repair – $50m2 for carpet = $500 + Labour Cost

TPM

The 10m2 carpet area is protected by SupaTak 800 carpet protection. Cost of protection – $110 for 100m2 roll of SupaTak 800 = actual cost to protect 10m2 is $11.
