Atkar introduces a 67mm wide furring channel

Continuously perforated acoustic plaster ceilings are currently in trend due to their modern design and seamless finish. For contractors, this type of ceiling required additional consideration to ensure acoustic perforations are not filled and that the ceiling joints are framed properly to reduce the likelihood of cracking.

Atkar Group’s new wider furring channel, at 67mm, reduces the need for double furring channels to be used at the joints which not only ensures reduced joint movement and cracking but also cuts framing time on site.

Our 67mm wide furring channel is recommended for VoglFuge, which also uses a simple joint tape glue system which means no messy caulking or compound joint filler, making the install process faster and easier. Our new wider furring channel also lends itself to express joints in soffit linings, giving a better fixing advantage at the sheet edge.

BENEFIT
Saves time and labour on site as it replaces two standard furring channels
with one 67mm wide furring channel

The VoglFuge Difference:

How is VoglFuge different to other seamless acoustic plasterboard ceilings?

There are 3 main types of acoustic plasterboard ceiling joints:

NON Contact system

  • Uses compound filling
  • Cracks can still occur

SEMI Contact system

  • Partial compound filling required
  • Cracks can still occur

FULL Contact system – VoglFuge

  • Vogl panels have straight edges on all sides, which allows for edge to edge alignment.
  • It uses a unique and patented joint glue tape system instead of compound joint filler
  • The use of the 67mm wide furring channel also reduces movement and ensures maximum crack resistance

The process to install VoglFuge is different, but it is not hard and Atkar Group are always available to provide support when required. We have also developed a 5 minute 3D installation video which visually demonstrates the process. But don’t take just our word for it. We have supplied Vogl in Australia for over 4 years for close to 100 projects and many contractors are coming back to use Vogl even when a similar product is specified.
